Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil. Gently place whole eggs into the boiling water. Set a timer for 6 mins, meanwhile prepare a bowl of ice water, to stop the eggs from cooking once they're done.

Cut 1" off of the leek root and almost all of the dark green top. Slice the leek in half lengthwise and run water through each side to remove any sand and dirt between the layers. Place the leek cut side down on a cutting board and slice very thin strips vertically, so you end up with long "threads" of leek.

Season steak with salt and rub in well, all over. Heat oil in a large saute pan over medium-high heat, until hot and glistening. Place steak into hot pan and sear undisturbed, on all sides, til well caramelized, aprx 2-3 mins per side.
